Idols Idle is a collection of ceramic sculptures drawn from different regional mythologies and weather-related deities across Southeast and East Asia. A compendium to the video, Weather Casting, the sculptures further imagine how local mythologies take physical forms in a future where humans themselves can wield and command weather.

Made with ceramics - a material that grounds the atmospheric to the terrestrial, the sculptures are shaped into idols, talismans, and amulets that blend the archaic with Weather Casting’s geoengineered climate future. Housed within see-through computer gaming cases adorned with RGB lighting, what would otherwise be traditional idols are instead installed within updated altars. Harking to their reimagining within gamified narratives.
